“Mother of the Story” L Squared

I love the video clip of Lucy Calkins, made during her research with Donald Graves, in which a girl tells Lucy that at home her mother tells her what to do.  But in workshop, the girl says writers get to be the “mother of the story,” deciding whether to change it, wait, or leave it alone.

Here, Lorena and Laura’s contributor pages are a place for personal writing in which we each get to be the mother of our own stories.
